Meet the lady who handmade the Classics Collection.

I’ve been following Cassandra of @lazygirllingerie for a couple of years and had always admired her work. During the summer of 2018, I decided to reach out to her and asked if she was interested in collaborating on a lingerie collection together. Cassandra was enthusiastic about collaborating so 70+ emails and 9 months later, we finally had product to share with everyone. Cassandra and I have ONLY communicated by email, have never met each other, and we just found out that we are both ONLY 24! ✨It’s amazing how social media can connect two ambitious women who live on DIFFERENT CONTINENTS together.

I have no skills in the actual manufacturing of lingerie but I had a clear vision on how I wanted to the pieces to look. Cassandra was able to make my vision come to life through her impeccable designing skills.

It has been such a pleasure working with Cassandra. I will always be her biggest fan and will continue rooting for her success.

Below is a little Q & A with Cassandra so you have a chance to learn more about her.

Q & A

KN: Thanks for taking the time to do this interview with us. How would you like to introduce yourself to the readers of Lingerie & Literature?

CP: Thanks for having me! I am Cassandra Pons, solopreneur behind all things Lazy Girl Lingerie. I spend my days working hard on my handmade lingerie business, and when I'm not working you can find me hanging out with my doggos, drinking cappuccinos and tucked up with a good book. 

KN: Can you tell us how Lazy Girl Lingerie started?

CP: The idea for LGL started in my final year at fashion college, where I learnt the technical skills behind lingerie making and absolutely fell in love. I realised this is what I wanted to do with my life, and the rest is history! I wanted to create a brand that encouraged women to celebrate their bodies and inspired effortless confidence, and lingerie was a perfect way to do this. Like a true millennial, I started an Instagram  account and Etsy shop and snapped some photos as I worked on my new passion project, working a full-time job in the fashion industry as well since I was fresh out of fashion college. You can definitely say I was obsessed, spending whatever time I could working on my business and learning as I went and so in love with creating and experimenting. Over the years, my brand has grown from a side hustle in a tiny corner of my spare room to a full-time business, through the help of collaborations, stockists, online sales and just good old hard work!

KN: That’s truly inspiring! Why is lingerie special to you?

CP: Lingerie is so special because it allows us to celebrate our bodies and femininity. Even if you are the only person who is seeing it, it has the power to make you feel sexy and confident and unstoppable. Lingerie can be your superpower. 

KN: What are some of your favourite fabrics to work with? 

CP: It's pretty clear from my designs that I LOVE lace, I have been fortunate enough to work with a supplier who creates the most incredible soft stretch laces and allows me to purchase in small quantities that fits in with my ethos of sustainable fashion and minimising waste. I would say my style is classic and sophisticated, I love creating pieces that are timeless, and I find tulle, silk, satin and jersey fit really nicely into my designs as well. I'm also starting to experiment more with limited edition vintage fabrics as well as I work towards becoming more environmentally conscious in my brand as well. 

KN: Do you have any advice for women who want to start their own business?

CP: In school I had a little saying pinned up on my bedroom wall "Life is what you make it" and I really feel I have carried this with my through my journey in life. I really think anything in life you want you can have, you just need to put in the hard work to make it happen. If you are passionate about starting a business, make it happen! And enjoy the process. Trust in your ideas and believe in yourself. 

KN: What are your goals for Lazy Girl Lingerie?

CP: I really want to work on the environmental impact of my brand, and work towards more ethical and sustainable practices as I grow - looking at what charities and organisations I can work with to help them, how I can implement sustainable textiles into my designs, how I can look at my business practices to minimise waste. 

KN: What was it like for you designing the collection in collaboration with Lingerie & Literature?

CP: Working with Kiana was an absolute joy. It was really special for me to work with Kiana, I look back at some of my earliest Instagram posts in 2016 and I see her name there so I really feel like she has been on this whole ride with me. It's pretty amazing that we did this whole collection online from opposite sides of the world!. Kiana has great communications skills and a strong eye for her vision so that made the whole project smooth sailing really.
